Attempted to start potty training, I don't think he's actually ready, he doesn't know when he's going, just when he's been, and he's getting wee and poo mixed up all the time! But I thought I'd have a go.
He won't thank me for this!
I managed to get him to sit on his potty, he is absolutely terrified of it for some reason, but after a lot of cuddles and a lot of crying from him, I managed to get him to sit on it by bribing him with chocolate buttons! Result! He was sat happily, whilst munching, so I thought, if I could keep him on there until he wee'd then we'd have begun the battle. So after he finished his buttons he was looking around to see what he could run off and play with so I ran off for more food (again teaching him to sit on the loo and eat, not my wisest move!) so he had had his buttons, he then had a bag of crisps, a babybel, a banana, some juice, and still nothing. Short of cooking up his favourite meal I was out of ideas and off he scarpered!
So that's as far as we've got so far, and his latest declaration that he 'pumped out of his penis' does not fill me with hope!
We've finally taken the next step and we have taken the sides off his cot, so he is now sleeping in his 'big boy bed' The first night he fell out 3 times :s after the third time I rolled a towel up into a long sausage and put it under the fitted sheet on the outside of the bed, and ta da we've only had one fall out since then, and that was two weeks ago!
It was his second birthday yesterday, it was like Thomas the Tank Engine had thrown up all over the house and him. It was quite a stressful day, which I'm starting to learn birthdays are all about! But it was a nice day overall, poor little monkey was extremely overwhelmed and exhausted by bedtime, and now my days are filled with playing with his Thomas trains and tracks....oh goody!
