Music

Music is my life.

Music can make me feel so many emotions.

I love to sing, I love to dance, I love to attempt to play music.

I hate people who only listen to one genre of music. If I like a song, I get it, don't care what genre it comes from.

I have a 'gift'? in that I can nearly always associate a memory or a person with almost every song. That's why music can make me feel so emotional!

I have been to many concerts; Backstreet Boys, Streetlight Manifesto, Flogging Molly, Rancid, Foo Fighters, Chili Peppers, Pink...!

I think music says a lot about a person and seems as we're all playing getting to know you games I thought I'd make a music one.

So tell me about music in your life, then pick 10 songs, and tell me the memories or why you like the song!

Eternity - Robbie Williams

I can't listen to this song very easily. It came out around the same time as my nana died, and I was sooooooo close to her. The lyrics hit home, and even to this day it brings tears to my eyes the second it starts.

Hard To Concentrate - Red Hot Chili Peppers

I heard this song about 2 months after getting together with my now Husband. I told him that this song would be our wedding song (please listen if you don't know what it is, the lyrics are gorgeous) and it was our first dance!

Beer - Reel Big Fish

Happy Happy Happy Happy song, not too relevant now as I don't really drink, but it still gets me bouncing round!

Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

This is my miserable song. If I need to cry for help without drawing too much attention, I put 'and I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand' and my best friend rings within minutes!

Drops of Jupiter - Train

Speaking of best friends, this is our song. The line 'your best friend always sticking up for you, even when I know you're wrong' he had a massive argument with some friends, and I jumped in and stuck up for him. After we won the argument, I told him he was wrong, then not long after we heard this song  and laughed our heads off. This was then our song!

Top of the World - Imagine Dragons

Another happy, happy, happy song! One of my friends who I don't see very often, text me one day and told me to download it cause it reminded him of me. Happy!

Move Your Feet - Junior Senior

Watch this one just for the music video! Reminds me of when I went to work on a kids camp in Norfolk. We had an interview that lasted all weekend. Then those of us who were successful were treated to a night out. We got on the coach, I barely new anyone, I was 500 miles from home, this song came on, we all started singing our heads off, jumping around, hugging. I new this was the start of a new adventure!

Home - Foo Fighters

Wow this one stirs up a lot of memories too. I had moved to Leeds to live with a guy I was seeing. I hated it, I'd found out he was cheating on me, he was emotionally abusive. I'd just downloaded Foos new album, and this came on. I remember leaning my head against the bus window, watching the rain, listening to the lyrics, and bursting in to tears on the bus. The second it finished I rang my parents and told them I was moving home, and handed my notice in at my job!

Changes - Tupac

Still love this song! I remember sitting in a physics lesson with my best mate, writing down all the words. I still know allllll the worlds (I is a well good rapper, fo shizzle!) I love the story of the song.

Lean on Me - Bill Withers

This is my song for my Dad. We were in Glasgow when I was very young and we went to some music festival. A group on stage sang this and when they got to the word 'for' my Dad stuck 4 fingers in my face. It had me helpless with giggles at the time, but makes me think of that everytime I even have it as his ringtone. I have a song and a ringtone for my Mum too which is The Lonely Goatherd She sang this all the time to us as kids and even now to the grandkids. I get very embarrassed when my phone rings in public with this though!

So that's my 10!

Bit of rock, old school, rap, pop, ska...!

What's your musical motivation? Would love anyone to join in!

  2. I love listening to music, I do tend to get pretty stuck on a favourite playlist though, sometimes it's good to have a look on iTunes and grab some new songs!

  6. I listen to anything I like though I admit I have a main genre I do listen to - it amazes me the emotions and feelings that can be associated with a piece of music. x

  8. I love music and also associate times/places/people with it. I find I actually listen less than I used to. To pick just 10 would take me some time. Barry White's My First, My Last, My Everything is possibly one of THE most important songs in my life - as it's my husband's words to me.

  10. Music is so important isn't it - I love listening to new music and making new memories with my children and listening to the old stuff that I love and remembering the old times too. Great playlist - Iris is one of my favourites :)

  11. I love music but am useless at remembering the name of songs or artists, so I just have to say THAT ONE when it is playing. I currently have Magic FM on loud all the time lately.
