Day 2 of potty training is too early for pants.
That's my next pearl of wisdom (you're all learning so much from me!)
So we started the day off with his pyjama shorts on.
After playing the pants down game, which was actually quite amusing and liberating, I was happy that he could get his shorts down fast enough.
As I was putting the washing in the machine, I heard him thundering down the passage, I smiled proudly too myself knowing that could only mean that he was heading for the potty!
So I went in to make sure he'd managed with his shorts, proudly noted that he had them round his ankles, but he had a sad face on and asked me for a nappy, I asked him why and he said that there was a poo poo. I presumed he meant he was doing a poo, he then explained that he'd done poo poo on his bedroom floor. I went to look, sure enough, there it was staring brownly at me!
I presumed that as he crouches down to play, the same he does to poo in his nappy, it had just snuck out, but on the positive he had gone to his potty when he realised and had managed to pull his shorts down. Yay.
So I explained it was a cheeky little poo that jumped out of his bum too fast, this seemed to please him and he was happy to then have pants on.
Half an hour or so later, he came running through telling me there was 'more, more on the floor' I followed him into his room, and he proudly displayed his wee to me. I asked him why he didn't go to his potty and he said 'I don't know'.
I believe that the pants may give him a feeling of security similar to a nappy, so we took the pants off, and went the rest of the day without and we had no more accidents, 6 wee's, all in the potty!
So no pants for a while, when he's at home he'll have no pants, and when we go out, we'll have a nappy on, until he can start telling me when he needs a wee, in which case we'll change to pull ups.
He does kind of warn me, he'll be babbling on, then a look of surprise comes over his face, before he shouts 'IT'S COMING, IT'S COMING, IT'S COMING' as he runs all the way to his potty, his bare bum cheeks wobbling as he goes.
Very cute!
He's at the in-laws tomorrow, so we're sending his potty over with him, so won't have much to write about on Day 3, but Day 4 involves our first trip out, so that should be interesting!
Awww. Potty training is hard! We have an 8/9 year gap between our eldest and 2 youngest, so I've forgotten how to do potty training and will be starting our (almost 2) year old soon. Looking forward to your tips! x
