Conversations With a 2 Year Old

I haven't blogged about T in a while, which I should really as I'm a 'Parent blogger'!

T has discovered the feeling of scared.

It was first discovered when we took him to see The Gruffalos Child at the theatre, when the Gruffalo popped up, he clung to me and buried his head in my neck, was fine for the main part of the story, but then at the end, when the Daddy Gruffalo comes back on, again he clung and hid.

Then at the swimming baths they had a fault with the fire alarm (they failed to tell us this) and the alarm was going off for about half an hour, and he clung to my Dad the entire time.

At sign language yesterday, his teacher was pretending to make a dinosaur, when there was a loud bang from the room next door, he clung to me thinking there was a dinosaur.

Sadly it seems he has my over active imagination! But at least I understand his train of thought so I can reassure him!

Also T's conversational skills have progressed some what.

He's started asking questions, starting with the most simplified version, then adding an extra word or person in the next time, and the next, and the next.

When he says the last part of the question his voice goes up, like this

And then continually goes up throughout the questioning like this

This is amusing but very annoying at the same time!!

But I love listening to him, and the translation glitches. He has the cars from the movie... Cars. One of which is called Guido, T's translation Peado.

This has amused me a lot.

'Hello Mater how are you?'
'Hello Peado, y'all right?'
'Oh no Peado where are you?'

He's started expressing his love for everything

'Mammy I love your green nails'

'Mmmm I LOVE tomatoes (he does not, I point this out to him as he takes it) I do Mammy I LOOOOOVE tomatoes (takes big bite, faces crumples, spits in bin)'

We have also discovered 'why?' Thankfully only crops up when I tell him he can't do something, which isn't very often.

*blog interrupted by T announcing over the baby monitor 'I need my nose medicine' 'I NEED MY NOSE MEDICINE' 'I've got bogies' (Nose medicine is one of those plug in thingys)*

*now crying cause he's 'just done a pump' (he does not like pumping in bed, I have trained him well, his future wife will thank me*

When he's going down for naps or bedtime his baby monitor is usually the source of much amusement!

Had us in stitches tonight.

*T goes in to bathroom where Hubby is having a bath*

(Don't forget to read T's part with the upward inflection at the end, also building in pitch with each question)

T: You having a bath?
H: Yes
T: You having a bath Daddy?!
H: Yes
T: You brushing your teeth?
H: Yes
T: You brushing your teeth Daddy?!
H: Yes
T: You splashing in the water?
H: Not really
T: You got a big winky?
H: *howls laughing*
T: You got a big winky Daddy?
H: *mute with laughter*
T: YOU GOT A BIG WINKY DADDY?
H: ummmm
T: T's got a little winky
